On December 22nd, at Warehouse Live in Houston, Trae and Z-Ro (who are first cousins) put an end to a years-long break-up that had kept the city of Houston from seeing them share a stage.

Big Mike Talks With HipHopDX About "Bayou Classic," Forgiving J. Prince, And Rick Ross' Respect !!!!

According to  http://www.hiphopdx.com/, Big Mike's rise to fame was fast but behind the scenes of what seemed to be one of the best success stories of any Hip Hop artist of the 1990s were simmering issues that would soon boil over. A reportedly contentious relationship with Scarface only the least of Mike’s problems, as the much more serious monetary and contractual disputes with Rap-A-Lot founder J. Prince eventually culminated with someone allegedly affiliated with Mr. Prince shooting up Mike’s residence in the middle of the night. In retaliation for that gunfire, Mike set literal fire to a Rap-A-Lot recording studio. He subsequently spent nearly four years in prison for the arson.   Read more here-----> Big Mike

David Banner Goes Into Further Detail About V-Nasty With Sway on Shade 45 !!!

#SwayInTheMorning and had the opportunity to give him his first listen of V-Nasty's "Diss" against him on her Gucci Mane collab BAYTL.

David Banner Replies To V-Nasty Diss !!!

Just when we thought the antics were done with V-Nasty, the controversial rapper has managed to find her way back into the spotlight. On her album with Gucci Mane BAYTL, the White Girl Mob rapper attacked David Banner with the line, "Got more bricks than houses in Atlanta/Damn how a white bitch more hood than David Banner," after Banner took issue with her use of the n-word in his song "Swag."
Now, Shade 45's Sway got the exclusive from Banner about V-Nasty's diss and the implications of her use of the n-word on Hip Hop. Banner explained that he didn't want his song "Swag" to actually be an attack on her as a person; rather, he aimed to expose the adverse cultural and racial effects of accepting her use of the n-word without question.
"It don't bother me at all. One problem with Hip-Hop is people try to act a certain way and they put it on their sleeve. I don't have to talk about the stuff I do," he explained. "It's funny when people tell these kids to be hood and they don't stay in the hood. They give the kids this mentality of staying in the hood and that shows you what other cultures think about us as Black people and what's important to us and how they try to play us Black men against each other. The sad thing [is if I was to respond], I'[d look like] the big mean Black guy. Regardless of how articulate I am, if I move any kind of way I will always be crucified. Regardless of these Disney and Paramount deals I'm doing, I'll always be looked at in that manner so what I realize that as Black people, we have to stop letting people play our culture like that."

Banner also said he was upset with other members of the Hip Hop community, most notably Fat Joe and Mistah F.A.B., who didn't take issue with V-Nasty saying such a debilitating word. He said that while he doesn't believe that V-Nasty was intentionally being racist, he feels that she's ignorant to the pain that  white people cause when saying that word.

"I'm more concerned about the people around her that allow her to feel comfortable enough to do that. I was actually one of the people that kept folks off of her. That's a lil' girl. I honesty believe that she don't know know better and the plight between our races is so much bigger than her. I don't think she knows the ramifications and pain of the word...her people were not hung from trees and forced to accept the word 'nigger", Banner says.

Bankruptcy Takes Ahold of Young Buck !!!!

After filing for bankruptcy last year, Young Buck is facing liquidation as his bankruptcy trustee says that he "no longer has a viable shot at reorganizing."  According to Wall Street Journal, the rapper, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, originally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy but is now in danger of facing Chapter 7 liquidation. If the motion is filed, then Young Buck's assets will be sold and distributed among his creditors.  Maan!! Gotta take care of that money baby!!!!

XXL recently caught up with Kendrick Lamar following a performance at SOB's in New York. During the interview, the Compton upstart gave some details on his highly anticipated upcoming project, revealing that he's enlisted Just Blaze and Pete Rock for production. He even added that it was the Chocolate Boy Wonder who actually reached out to him, but that the two have yet to hit the studio together.

“Yeah, me and Just [Blaze] got some shit,” K. Dot explained. “We got some shit. It’s city-based for sure. It’s classic. It’s history-making shit. It’s Just Blaze, a nigga I been listening to since I was 13 when I started rhyming, listening to Jay[-Z] and all those Roc-A-Fella albums...I’m [also] looking forward to working with Pete Rock. He just reached out to me. That feels muthafuckin’ great. I got to get back to him, so we can make it work.”

Danny Brown says Harsh Remarks on Mac Miller's Album

In an interview with RollingStone.com, Brown  replied to a question about Childish Gambino's album, as he will be touring with him in March.

"I listened to it. Hey, it’s better than Mac Miller’s," he said, bluntly. "That’s my response. It’s better than Mac Miller’s. He’s the worst guy around. Don’t get me started. His album cover is like, 'Ugh, what is this?' He’s trying to be artistic, huh?"

Danny Brown said, "If I see him, I’m just going to have to apologize to him, like, 'Man, I just want to apologize for hating you so much. Because I’m not going to stop. You’re probably a cool guy. I don’t feel violent in any way, but I really hate you. I hate your music, man.' It’s just bad."

In Common’s new record “Sweet,” many felt he was dissing Drake in some of the lyrics. “Y’all n*ggas man, y’all soft motherf*ckers / Singing all around me man, la la la / You ain’t motherf*cking Frank Sinatra / Uh, lil’ b*tch / Sweet ass motherf*cker.” Com was asked before if it was toward Drake and he’d replied, “Some people have been saying that, but on that song, I’m just talking about whoever the cap fits. I’m talking about rappers out there that’s soft and doing the same thing. So if the cap fits, then that’s who it is,” he said “That’s all it is. It’s whoever the cap fits, then let ‘em wear it. I think it’s a lot of creative artists out there. I think Drake makes some good music.” Not really confirming it was to Drake but now this morning after his appearance on Shade 45, he’s confirmed it was. “Common just confirmed…”sweet” is directed at Drake and “whoever else wants it” morning show co-host Devi Dev tweeted while he was in studio. Drake’s producer 40 then followed up.

New Vid From Talib Kweli off Of Upcoming Album "Prisoner of Conscious" !!!!

Music from Talib Kweli's upcoming album, Prisoner of Conscious, out in 2012 on Blacksmith / EMI. "Distractions" is produced by Oh No. The music video is directed by Darryl Phillips, of ICU Media. Download the MP3 of the song for free at http://www.facebook.com/talibkweli.

Message from Talib Kweli about the song: "A little less a year ago, I got a beat from one of my favorite producers, Oh No, that I felt would be a perfect sound bed for the album I was working on, Prisoner Of Conscious. As I played the beat over and over trying to write lyrics, I kept finding myself distracted. By the TV, by twitter, by trivial things. I realized then that the beat was asking me to write about Distractions. Beats talk to me. They tell me what to rap about, they suggest a guest for the song. One of the things I was distracted by was the news coming from Tahrir Square last year. The Arab Spring was unlike anything I've seen in my lifetime. Beginning with a vegetable cart owner named Mohammed Bouazizi setting himself on fire in Tunisia to protest general unfair treatment, the Arab Spring spread like wildfire to Sudan and then to Egypt, as thousands of protestors occupied Tahrir Square to call for corrupt president Hosni Mubarak to step down. The first line that I wrote for my song Distractions was, "they say it ain't about the spoils of war, but turn around and tell you how much more the oil will cost." This was inspired by the Arab Spring. Fast forward to September, 2011. Occupy Wall Street exploded into the collective consciousness of the world, but it started right here in New York City. I didn't understand that this protest was something that was ongoing at first, so I did not pay much attention in the beginning. However, when I saw my contemporaries like Lupe Fiasco bringing blankets and Immortal Technique making multiple trips, I knew this was something I had a responsibility to be involved in. I went to Zucotti Park the day after I arrived back in NY. I traveled with Jamie Kilstein and Allison Kilkenny from Citizen Radio, and res, my partner in Idle Warship. What I saw made me proud of my hometown. Sure, I probably saw some homeless people. If the homeless aren't in the 99 percent, who is? What was more prevalent was the organization, the sense of community. I saw students, musicians, wall street types, blue collar types, older activists and fresh faced newbies. It was the most democratic, American thing I had ever witnessed. And to think, it was inspired by the Arab Spring, just like my song! I was asked to address the crowd at the General Assembly, which is a daily gathering to discuss the issues at hand and how the people can move forward. Even though I am accustomed to being an entertainer, the thought of addressing people who were literally giving everything they had to this cause was a bit overwhelming. It was in that moment that I made the connection between my song Distractions and OWS. I sort of sputtered out Distractions, because this was the first time I was ever saying it out loud. The response to it has been nice, largely because a clip of it has made the rounds online. However, it wasn't me kicking a verse that resonated the most with the people actually at Zucotti Park, it is what I said from my heart. When I stopped rapping and addressed the people directly, I had, in my opinion, a bigger impact. It showed me the humanity of the movement. We were one, stripped of our titles. I strive to be a great artist. But I also strive to be a greater man. I am not here to convince you one way or the other about Occupy Wall Street. I know how I feel about the movement and that's good enough for me. I was so inspired by what those people are doing for our future that I wanted to celebrate them in the video for Distractions. I had some reservations about it. I did not want to appear like I was capitalizing. I hope that people see this video as I intended it, as a love letter to the Occupy Movement everywhere. Here it is, enjoy!
