Of course Dallas' own S1 makes our list. He produced a beakthrough hit for Kayne West and co-produced Beyoncé’s Second Single “Best Thing I Never Had” from her album “4″. He also did worked with Talib Kweli among others and was nominated for a grammy.
2. Alchemist
The Alchemist had a very busy year including projects with Oh No (Gangrene), Curren$y(Covet Coupe), and lending production talents to Mobb Deep(Black Cocaine), and Raekwon. He stayed true to his grimy street bangers that elevated him to the upper-echelon hip-hop producers.
3. Lex Lugar
2011 made Lex Lugar a house-hold name with such hits as H.A.M (Kanye West & Jay-Z), "Hustle Hard" (Ace Hood), "That Way" (Wale featuring Jeremih & Rick Ross), and "Round of Applause" (Waka Flocka Flame featuring Drake)
4. NO I.D.
Kanye's mentor NO I.D. made a tremendous comeback with lush production on works such as Jay-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne, Big Sean - Finally Famous: The Album, J. Cole - Cole World: The Sideline Story, Rihanna - Talk That Talk , and Common - The Dreamer/The Believer
5. 9th Wonder
Always a crowd pleaser 9th wonder's soulful samples held the masses for 2011. He did work artist such as Raekwon, Rhapsody, Median, Phonte and He released his solo project entitled :"The Wonders Years".
6. Nottz Raw
The VA beatsmith had another strong year with his hard-hitting snares and perfectly chopped samples. He put in work with artist like Pusha T, Rapper Pooh, Torae, Asher Roth, Royce da 5'9 and Snoop and Wiz Khalifa to round out the year.
7. Ski Beatz
Ski Beatz has provided hip hop with some of its most classic sounds and this year is no different. He assisted Talib kweli with his Gutter Rainbows, produced full length projects with Murs and Dynasty Electric. He also provided fans with a second installment of the 24-hour karate school.
8. Hit Boy
Hit Boy saw unparllel success in 2011 with a very unique sound. He recieved placements on plethora of projects like Jennifer Hudson, Game, Pusha T, Kelly Rowland, Dom Kennedy,Rihanna, and Jay-Z and Kayne's Watch the Throne.
9. Big K.R.I.T
Big K.R.I.T pulled double duty as a dope emcee and most importantly as one of the go- to producers in 2011. He had production work with T.I., Ludacris, Freddie Gibbs, Smoke DZA, and Chamillionaire.
10. Black Milk
Black Milk rounds out our list. His soulful sound found its way to projects like Random Axe and his collabo with Danny Brown. He also produced tracks on the Slaugtherhouse EP.
