It is going on nine years since
rapper/producer/singer Missy Elliott dropped her last full length studio
album. The multiplatinum selling performer spoke with Yahoo!’s “The Yo
Show” about what is taking so long for the official follow-up to 2005′s The Cookbook.
“When I create something, it’s got to be special, and it can’t just
be to throw something out there because I feel like I’m Missy,” said the
Virginia native. “I got to feel like what I’m giving the fans is 100%
and that it’s game-changing. I don’t just throw out microwave records.”
Miss E. assures that writer’s block is not the cause for the delay.
According to the “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” rapper, she is still
searching for inspiration.
“Just being inspired by things is what I’m grabbing for,” explains
Missy. “It’s different now, so I’m just trying to make sure that what I
give is 100% because I know that expectations is high from my fans, and
it’s high of myself.”
While Missy fans may have to wait a little while longer for her next
LP, she does reveal that listeners will get to her work with Faith
Evans. The former roommates are collaborating on Faith’s upcoming album.
